AMD RX VEGA has been delayed time and time again because of the production we are still waiting for the release of the GPU because they are using HBM2 memory instead of GDDR5 or GDDR5x, Well it has been confirmed they’re launching RX VEGA cards at 30 July at SIGGRAPH.
Today the world leader in advanced memory technology Samsung announced today that they’re increasing the production volume 8GB High bandwidth memory.
“By increasing production of the industry’s only 8GB HBM2 solution now available, we are aiming to ensure that global IT system manufacturers have sufficient supply for timely development of new and upgraded systems,” said Jaesoo Han, executive vice president, Memory Sales & Marketing team at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to deliver more advanced HBM2 line-ups, while closely cooperating with our global IT customers.”
There are 10 companies working on SoCs with HBM support, leading DRAM makers are gearing up to produce HBM2 including Samsung, HBM 2 delivers highest level of performance, faster than GDDR5x with reliability and energy efficiency in the industry.
The 8GB HBM2 consists of eight 8-gigabit (Gb) HBM2 dies and a buffer die at the bottom of the stack, It is designed to prevent overheating beyond certain temperature to guarantee high reliability.
