Leaked slides and road-maps have hinted that Intel’s second generation of Optane drives, the Intel 900P series will launch around the end of October. The Intel Optane SSD 900p SSD which uses a PCIe 4.0 interface will initially become available in capacities of 240 and 480 GB For data-center with corresponding prices of almost 600 and 1000 EUROs four times more than Samsung 960 Pro. These SSD’s will be available with optional an M2 to U2 converter.

As you can see from the image, the power consumption of these devices will be running up-to a high 18 Watt, in Idle that is 5 Watts. Optane offers random read speeds far greater than those of NAND flash , gets sequential read and write performance at a suggested 2.500 and 2.000 MB/s with roughly 500K IOPS based on 4K random writes which is a huge increase over its predecessor.
