As some of you may already know, similar to any other company that is worth any salt publishes an annual report for their stakeholders to showcase the financial side of things alongside the annual growth or decline in performance over the past 12 months.
In Valve’s report, we saw an increase of 21% in the overall hours spent on steam as the number soared to a resounding 38 billion, which increased the retrospective playtime by 4.3 million years. Whereas the player expenditure on games and hats alike also saw an increase of 27% from yesteryear, seems like Work-from-home for most people really allowed for the wallets to open up wide.
However, most importantly, we saw the daily active players number hit 69 million ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Consequently, the growth is apparent across all aspects which shows us that Valve had an exceptional year in 2021 and this also cements the growth of the gaming industry compared to other form of entertainment.
If we take a look back at the year, we saw Forza coming to the platform alongside multiple other console exclusives which we had never imagined to grace the high seas of the PCMR.
